Power Poses

Let's take a second to talk about a good power pose. Did you ever learn about this in school? Supposedly standing/sitting in a "power pose" helps boost your confidence. A power pose can be anything you think looks powerful. From standing in a superhero stance, to something as simple as just pulling your shoulders back and standing up straight. Even sitting laid back with your arms above your head might be powerful for you. I believe it's a mental game of re-instilling that confidence in yourself to get you through the day or the meeting or whatever it might be.

Amy Cuddy, a social psychologist, actually did a Ted Talk on this a few years back: Ted Talk

Her research shows that body language can change people's perceptions of us and maybe even our own.

I frequently do this when I need to remind myself that I'm in charge of my own life. Sometimes, when I'm feeling overly stressed at work or overwhelmed, I take a step back and stand in a power pose for 30 seconds to remember that I'm a boss babe and I can do anything I set my mind to. It might sound silly, but it resets your brain and gets you to think positively. Speaking positive affirmations while doing the power pose helps me, too. :)

So if no one told you today, you can do anything you set your mind to!!!
